Where It Started
For more than two decades, I have worked in accounting and finance, helping businesses understand their numbers, navigate complicated systems, and make better decisions.
Over time, I began thinking about what that knowledge means outside of business. Financial information creates choices — and too many people enter adulthood or major life transitions without ever being taught how money, credit, taxes, banking, or financial systems actually work.
That became part of the foundation for Speak Your Truth Now.
Your Money, Your Power grew from my professional experience in finance and my desire to make practical financial knowledge accessible to young people aging out of foster care and others rebuilding independence.
But the work also taught me something bigger:
Agency isn’t only knowing how to navigate a system. It’s having the knowledge, tools, and freedom to decide what comes next.
There Are Many Ways to Find Your Voice
Creative expression doesn’t have to begin with knowing exactly what you want to say.
Sometimes it starts with a melody. A sentence. A photograph. A color. A memory. A question you can’t stop thinking about. Sometimes it’s simply the urge to make something that feels like yours.
At Speak Your Truth Now, we see creativity as another form of agency — the freedom to explore an idea, question an old story, try something unfamiliar, and discover what comes out of it.
There is no right way to express yourself, and nothing requires what you create to be perfect, polished, or even shared.

Music as Expression
Music gives us another way to say what ordinary conversation sometimes can’t. A song can hold memory, freedom, grief, humor, anger, curiosity, or simply the feeling of being alive.
At SYTN, music is part of exploring voice and agency — creating something from our experiences without being defined by them.
Writing as Reflection
Writing gives us somewhere to put the questions that don’t always have easy answers. It can help us examine the stories we inherited, notice the ones we’ve been telling ourselves, and decide which ones still belong to us.
At SYTN, writing isn’t about having the perfect words. It’s about getting curious, thinking more deeply, and sometimes discovering a different ending than the one we expected.
Art as Perspective
Not everything we experience needs words. Sometimes an image, photograph, painting, poem, or visual story can capture something language can’t.
At SYTN, art and storytelling help us explore perspective—to look at an experience from another angle, notice what we may have missed, and create meaning without needing a single right interpretation.

Community Voices is where SYTN can grow beyond one person’s perspective — sharing creative work, stories, ideas, and experiences from people who may see the world very differently from one another.
We don’t need the same backgrounds, experiences, or answers to connect. Sometimes hearing another person’s story simply gives us a new way to see our own.
